ILL ALIEN

Born and raised in Flagstaff Arizona, iLL Alien has had a long musical journey to get him to his current home, San Francisco.

At the age of 10, he learned to play the saxophone and pursued his passion for music all through college with a local youth big band orchestra. With the band he shared the stage with a few jazz legends including Winton Marsalis.

 

iLL Alien has over 20 years of DJ experience with humble beginnings in local house parties, college radio and social events. He graduated from Northern Arizona University and The Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences with degrees in electronic media production and audio engineering.  He was music manager, DJed on and ran a hip hop radio show for his campus radio for 3 years. After attending a local hip hop show which had a up and coming DJ out of Phoenix, now world–renowned , Z-Trip, he decided to learn the craft of Turntablism. While still running the campus radio, he was asked to open up for Tre Hardson, aka Slimkid3 (Pharcyde), at his show in Flagstaff Arizona. In 2013, iLL Alien had the honor of opening for his idol Z-Trip at The Mezzanine, in San Francisco. iLL Alien pursued his craft of audio engineering at the legendary Hyde Street Studios and Cresendo! Studios all while working to perfect his skills as a DJ.

Now an experienced and talented DJ with Vinyl & Digital formats, iLL Alien has played alongside industry headliners, such as Slim Kid Tre of The Pharcyde, DJ Snake, Snakehips, Keys N Krates, LTJ Bukem, DJ Icey, Skiitour, DJ Manwell, Fatboy Slim, Moby, The Glitch Mob, Yotto, Petit Biscuit, Travis Baker, Wax Motif, Yellow Claw, Shiba San, Mad Skills, Manwell, Purple Disco Machine, Bachelors of Science and Maceo Plex.

For 9 years, ILL ALIEN held a residency at The Bamboo Hut SF, playing a variety of music genres including hip hop, house, latin, reggae, funk, and soul. Over the years he’s played at various clubs and music venues in San Francisco, Oakland, New York, Hawaii and Phoenix such as The Fox Theater Oakland, Yoshi's, The Mezzanine, 1015 Folsom, Madrone, Public Works, Monarch, The Great Northern (formerly know as Mighty), F8, Harlot, Underground SF, The Layover, Chambers, The Phoenix Hotel SF, Carnival San Francisco Parade, Dragon Upstairs, Crescent Ballroom, Bar Smith, House of Wax NYC, and Burning Man, in Black Rock City, NV.

iLL Alien's passion for music, education and training, continue to drive his artistic interest in music curation. He continues to seek opportunities to expand his technical skills and collaborate with local and international talent.

 

iLL Alien is currently a resident DJ on RadioAlhara.net and hosts a mix show called 'Passport Sound' which aires every 2nd Thursday of the month. 'Passport Sound' has been his musical focus for the past few years and highlights world dance music. Tune in here or at RadioAlhara.net
